Since Independence, the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain has maintained an investment friendly environment. This policy is clearly based on the framework of the Government's programmes for the years 2003 - 2006. These programmes presented by the Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa to the National Assembly at the opening of the first legislative session, in November, 2002. Within this framework, the work- plan of the Ministry of Industry has been adopted and is being implemented, in the form of a series of activities, programs and related projects aimed at imparting a new impetus to the drive towards a balanced industrial development.
Industrial development has to be compatible with the Region and Internationally. This investment opportunities' booklet is but an attempt on part of the Ministry of Industry to attract and assist the would be-industrial investors in examining a number of project profiles and opportunities in industry with view to attracting viable investors in a viable environment. These opportunities were identified and ranked with the assistance and close consultation and coordination with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consultancy (GOIC).
I extend a very warm welcome to all interested parties and offer the readiness of the Ministry of Industry to render full support towards realising and implementing these industrial opportunities by all would-be industrialists.
